Vancouver Fashion Week Day two, show one, began with the Originator Awards. This award recognizes people in the fashion industry who have contributed to the progression of the local market. The award recipients have been in the industry for 10 or more years, as well as inspire newcomers. After this took place, there was a Love to Ukraine tribute. This included dancing and wearing traditional Ukrainian outfits. The past six years they have had this event.
The Cut Academy X Cindy Sunshine’s looks were colourful and included floppy hats. Pink and blue are truly beautiful on their own, but I don’t mind combining both colours. Hergenes was up next, these looks were formal and unique at the same time. The silhouette of the first dress was interesting. The second look was grey and gorgeous. The dress had this rather large bow at the back and I can’t tell you how much I love it. The dress had pants at the bottom and I really did enjoy this. Forgive my informality, but it was cute. Then, it was Catherine Teels’ turn. These dresses were all stunning. I love the colour and the sparkles. Dresses featured the perfect amount of sparkle.
Day Two, show two was spectacular. Stay Positive by Osvaldo Angeles was cohesive and all shared similar designs. After Stay Positive, it was time for The Mestizo Los Angeles by Gil Gabriel Gonzales. Mestizo “denotes a person of mixed races, symbolizing not only Robert & Gabe's own Filipino and Caucasian background but also celebrating the amalgamation of cultures through fashion. Each item designed by The Mestizo is crafted to be accessible and wearable for everyone, embodying a unique blend of aesthetics and cultural narratives. “ (Source: https://www.vanfashionweek.com/designer/the-mestizo-la) This collection was stunning. I’m in awe of every look. The looks are colourful, beautifully shaped, and stunning.
Narvan by Marjan Kargar’s looks were gorgeous. The materials were beautiful and looked so comfortable, yet chic at the same time. I didn’t know that was possible! There were frequent bows, which I have to say, were placed perfectly. They added to the timeless looks, rather than subtract from. As a minimalist, this is my heaven. Minimal colour, but authentically chic looks. To my core, I love elegance!
Day two, Show three, began with Poppy Wang. Looks were similar in colour and materials. Also, the looks were consistent with one another. I’m a huge fan of the fourth look. The navy blue is such a gorgeous colour. One of my favourite colours! The back of the dress was so beautiful. Overall, this collection was fabulous. The fourth show of Day two was 303 by SanmaRusan. These looks were very unique. From the second look’s headpiece, colourful makeup, and mixing and matching of materials, as well as patterns showcased. The fourth and final collection of the day was from Outlaws, created by brothers Miguel and Francis Estilong. Furthermore, “Debuting on October 23rd in Vancouver for VFW, "RUN FOR THE HILLS" the Spring/Summer 2025 ready-to-wear collection by The World of Outlaws, is a deeply personal journey of self-discovery.” (Source:https://www.vanfashionweek.com/designer/outlaws) Each look used similar materials and was overall very consistent.
Overall, Day two was fascinating. From swimwear, to elegance, to streetwear, I am utterly impressed by the variety. Each collection provided something special. I’m happy to say I really enjoyed each individual collection. Stay tuned for next week where I review Days three, four, and five. As well as, six.
